🍽️ Using the App

Open the Fridge Swipe app and tap the camera icon on the home screen. Point your phone at the inside of your fridge β€” make sure the lighting is decent and the main items are visible. Tap the shutter button and our AI will analyse what's inside within a few seconds. You'll get a list of detected ingredients and a set of recipe ideas based on what you have. For best results, keep the fridge door open and take the photo straight on.
AI recognition is very good but not perfect β€” it works best with clearly visible items. Try taking the photo in better lighting, removing items that are blocking others, or retaking the photo closer to the shelf. You can also manually add ingredients by tapping "Add ingredient" after the scan. We're continuously improving the AI model with every scan.
In the Restaurant tab, tap "Swipe with Friends" and share the generated session code or link with your group. Everyone joins the same session and independently swipes through nearby restaurants. When two or more people swipe right on the same place, it shows up as a match β€” no more endless "where do you want to eat?" conversations.
Price estimates are based on average retail prices for each ingredient in your region. They're meant to give you a rough idea of the total shopping cost β€” not exact prices. Actual prices vary by store, brand, and location. We update our price data regularly but cannot guarantee accuracy. Always check prices at your local store.

πŸ’³ Credits & Plans

Fridge Swipe uses a credit system for AI-powered features like fridge scanning and recipe generation. Free accounts receive a set number of credits each month β€” enough for regular personal use. Credits refresh on the 1st of each month. If you run out early, you can purchase additional credit packs from the app's store, or upgrade to a premium plan for unlimited credits. Credits do not carry over between months on the free plan.
Yes β€” Fridge Swipe has a generous free plan that includes fridge scanning, recipe swiping, grocery list building, and restaurant discovery. The free plan is supported by ads (Google AdMob). A premium, ad-free plan with unlimited credits is available as an in-app subscription. You can use the core features forever without paying.

πŸ”’ Account & Privacy

To delete your account and all associated data, send an email to team@fridgeswipe.com with the subject line "Delete my account" and include the email address linked to your account. We will permanently delete your account and all data within 30 days and send you a confirmation. This action is irreversible β€” saved recipes, grocery lists, and preferences cannot be recovered after deletion.
No. Photos you take with the fridge scanner are sent to our AI service (OpenAI) for real-time ingredient analysis and are not stored on our servers after the scan is complete. We only store the resulting list of detected ingredients, not the photo itself. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
Location is used only for the Restaurant Swiper feature to find restaurants near you. The app does not access your location unless you open the Restaurant tab. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings β€” the fridge scanning and grocery features will continue to work normally.

Try these steps in order: 1) Force-close the app and reopen it. 2) Check your internet connection. 3) Update the app to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. 4) Restart your device. 5) Uninstall and reinstall the app (your account data is saved in the cloud). If the problem persists, email us at team@fridgeswipe.com with your device model and OS version.
